Who We Are

 

Our brand and web site reflect who we are – A Fiji based, family Company that values great quality and enjoys sharing that with our customers.

Our Company name comes from the location of our very first shop 20 years ago on Victoria Parade, in Fiji’s capital city – Suva.

The face on all the marketing collateral is Siobhan Vusoniwailala, Liam and Pauline Hindle’s eldest grandchild. The design on the masthead is drawn from a piece of masi kesa (bark cloth) made and designed by one of Siobhan’s great-grandmothers on the occasion of Siobhan’s return from her first trip overseas – vakacirisalusalu.

We currently have two shops in the West, in Nadi and Denarau, and one shop in Suva at the new Damodar complex, adjacent to the University of the South Pacific. As we import wines directly from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Chile, Argentina, the USA, New Zealand and Australia, we have a large bonded warehouse and a large storage and aging facility in Suva, all of which are strictly temperature controlled.

We have a small but dedicated team of twenty-five people, who are committed towards ensuring that you receive all the assistance you require with selecting the perfect bottle of wine to accompany your meal, or, the aperitif with which to watch the sun set on our beautiful islands. Enjoy!

 

 

Liam Hindle, Managing Director

Liam is the Managing Director of the Company that he first established 20 years ago on Victoria Parade, Suva.

His initial career as a geologist mapping Vanua Levu and the islands of Northern Fiji has served him well in his understanding of ‘terroir’. Over the years he has established himself as Fiji’s most knowledgeable wine expert, writing articles for local magazines and newspapers on request, as well as leading numerous Winemaker Dinners and Wine Tastings.

His sense of humor and passion for the product is well captured in the Company tag line – ‘We love it, We drink it, We sell it’.

Pauline Hindle, Director

Pauline is the Creative Director of the Company and has guided the design and development of all the Victoria Wines retail outlets since its’ inception.

Pauline’s experience as a practicing artist has greatly assisted in the flair and innovation she has contributed to all major developments over the years.

 

Kate Vusoniwailala, Director

Kate’s background has been in the cultural sector for the past twenty years, working as a Museum Director. She has recently taken up responsibility for managing the strategic development of the Company, which is currently expanding at a rapid rate, illustrating the increasing appreciation and enjoyment of fine wines in Fiji.

The Victoria Wines focus on quality with the importation of many fine wines from all over the world has led to a natural alliance with the arts, either through a direct link to cuisine or through a broader relationship with the arts. The company now focuses its sponsorships and partnerships in this area of ‘Food & Wine’ and ‘Culture & the Arts’.

Operations Manager

Patrick Gock is the Company’s new Operations Manager. He is responsible for the management of our three shops, at Port Denarau Marina, Martintar in Nadi, and the new shop at Damodar City in Suva and the general operations of the Company, including deliveries to the airport for visitors. Please remember that if there is a special event planned and you are looking for something ‘special’ to remember that important occasion...we can assist!

Patrick successfully completed his Wine and Spirit Education Trust Level 1 training in December 2016.

Bond & Distribution Manager

Khem Chand is the Company’s Bond & Distribution Manager. This involves receiving all imported goods into our bonded warehouse, distribution to all our retail outlets and ongoing stock management and control. He also works closely with our Managing Director around wine orders and pricing.

Our commitment to quality extends beyond our selection of product to the ongoing careful management of wine in our warehouses and retail shops in carefully controlled environments to ensure the quality and experience of the product through to the first enjoyable sip!

Sales Manager (West)

Eunice Molia has over twenty-four years in the toursim industry, primarily with some of the excellent crusie ship Companies that offer unforgettable experiences touring in comfort through our beautiful islands.

Eunice will be taking you on a 'tour of the palate' going forward as she assists you with selecting the perfect bottle of wine to celebrate a special occasion or just to enjoy at the end of the day. Don't hesitate to seek her advice on your wine selection as Eunice will be working closely with the Directors whilst she undertakes her WSET training and developes her wine knowledge and appreciaton!

Wholesale Manager

Eta Tikomaidia has been with Victoria Wines for 15 years. She is based at our Nadi Shop, which is on the main highway into Nadi town.

Eta manages stock depletions, coordinates orders for the Company and manages wholesale relationships with the many resorts and restaurants that list our wines on their Menu. Fiji is starting to build build a good reputation for 'food & wine' and Victoria Wines works closely with our customers to support them with developing a balanced Wine List and other wine activations.

Eta successfully completed her Wine and Spirits Education Trust Level 1 training in 2015.

 

Sales Manager (East)

Valerie Buadromo Finau is our Sales Manager, managing sales and accounts in Suva and the Eastern Division.

Valerie has had a wealth of experience in sales and marketing at several prominent local companies. She is also currently pursuing a degree in International Business & Marketing at the University of the South Pacific. Valerie successfully completed her Wine & Spirits Education Trust Level 1 qualification in 2015.

 

 

Market Analyst

Emma Faletoese, previously the Manager of our Nadi Shop, recently took up the new role of managing product and sales analytics to assist us with providing excellent services to both our customers and suppliers. Emma also coordinates all visits for winery representatives, wine activations and training for our customers.

Emma successfully completed her Wine & Spirit Education Trust Level 1 training in 2016.

Denarau Shop Manager

Peter Chang is the new Shop Manager for our shop based at Denarau Marina.

Our Denarau Shop is a popular stop for many of our Denarau Island residents, as well as the many visitors on the way out to island resorts. The Denarau Shop has a small Fine Wine section for those of you looking for something extra special, for an important occasion, or just because you deserve it!

Damodar Shop Manager

Sakiusa Ravaga has worked with Victoria Wines for over twenty years in different capacities. He is a qualified Bond Clerk but has recently had a change in his career direction to take up the role of Shop Manager for our central city shop at Damodar. This shop is situated adjacent to our sister restaurant Bad Dog Cafe and you are encourage to pick up a bottle of wine from the wide selection in our shop to take through to BDC and enjoy with you dinner for a minimal corkage fee. Nadi Shop Manager

Peni Lebaivalu is the Manager of our Nadi Shop located on the main highway at Lot 17, Queens Road, Martintar, Nadi.

Group Financial Controller

Mohammed Nazim is the Group Financial Controller for Matrix Holdings and Victoria Wines. He works closely with the Victoria Wines team on budgets and sales targets, liaises with all of our suppliers on payments and with wholesale customers on recievables.

As you can imagine, the fact that we import wines from all the key wine growing regions of the world, provides for an interesting day's work for the leader of our financial team!
